The third race in the 2012 Rally America National Championship held in Portland, The Dalles and Dufur, OR is in the books. The Oregon Trail Rally took place on May 4th – 6th and like the event in Missouri a month prior, it saw a record amount of entries from teams all over the world.
The weather held out and team FY Racing from Houghton, MI, pulled their Seibon Carbon equipped 2002 Subaru Impreza to a third place finish at the podium. This finish bumped 2011 Rally America Rookie of the Year Adam Yeoman and co-driver Jordan Schulze up to third place in the championship.
This event is only Yeoman’s twelfth rally, including regional events. After winning the 2011 Rally America “Rookie of the Year” award, Adam has been working very hard to earn a podium finish. Here’s what Adam Yeoman had to say after the race:
“I couldn’t be happier with how the weekend went. We knew we wanted to push really hard on Friday night and get a lead on the guys we’re fighting to beat and managed to do just that. Going into the rough stages on Saturday morning we wanted to be cautious enough to avoid drama but on pace enough to stay ahead. We built up a comfortable lead over 4th and we weren’t really close to 2nd so we backed off for the rest of the stages and brought the car in for a podium”.
Up next is Susquehannock Trail Performance Rally on June 1st and 2nd in North Central Pennsylvania. While FY Racing preps for the upcoming event, the team is also working hard towards finishing their 2007 Subaru STI race car. This car will replace their 2002 Subaru Impreza and is expected to be completed mid July. Like the team’s current race car, the STI will also feature Seibon Carbon components to help with shedding unnecessary weight.
Stay put for more updates on FY Racing and the progress of their new race car.
