Spotlight: Vinny Anatra's Nissan S14

YMMT

Welcome to Spotlight. Our goal is to feature customer's vehicles and shine a spotlight on their build. We are always excited to see where our products end up and how they are being used. Did you build a show car? A drift car? A time attack car? Is it bagged or static? You get to tell your story in the spotlight.

Today we are featuring Vin and his Nissan S14

Seibon: Hey Vin! Tell us a little about yourself and what you do for a living.

Vin: My name is Vincent Anatra and I am the VP of Business Development at Hoonigan.

Seibon: That's awesome. Everyone knows Hoonigan! Can you give us the story on your car and why you bought it?

Vin: After ditching the forced induction on my E46 M3 “grip” car, I realized that the 330whp, 3100 lbs car with 275s left a desire for something more, how you say… "dickhead". The first thing I decided on was the motor. I needed a Toyota JZ in my life. Queue in JDM California with a low mile perfect compression 1JZ.
Why 1JZ over 2JZ… cost. Because this was supposed to be a budget build. Emphasis on supposed to be.

While looking for a chassis my goal was to have something different from the E46 and while the E36 was appealing, I didn’t want another BMW. I have always loved the S14 but the market for shitted up shitboxes was still pretty pricey. Luckily I found an abandoned project via Instagram. A 1995 240sx BASE. No sunroof, factory 5-speed car that has been sitting in storage for a decade! The owner had swapped a SR20DET with a GT28RS and a real wonky E85 setup back in the 2000s. Needless to say, the engine blew up and the car was put into storage.

I purchased the car for $2500 bucks - it was a clean roller with everything besides a motor. I immediately power washed off the 10 years of desert dust and started stripping it. I sold off every bit and part that would not be used in my build. I think I managed to sell almost $1k worth of parts, score!

Seibon: That is a true definition of a project. Any future plans for it?

Vin: As of currently, it is just a street machine that I take drifting from time to time. I may turn it into my dedicated Time Attack car as it has all of the right parts to make it into a great race car.

Seibon: Where can people find you on social media?

Vin: You can find me on on IG: @vin_tra, @thehoonigans. Here is the link to the S14 videos on the Hoonigan YouTube channel.

Seibon: Thank you, Vin!
